Glossary
Here we list the most important terms required for proper understanding of Testing Master operation:
- Function – an elementary building block of a request parameter. A single parameter can be built from multiple concatenated functions.
- Parameter – a single <name>=<value> pair in a test script. There are global parameters and request parameters. Request parameters are built from functions.
- Modifier – a value (or a range in the format [from..to:step]) used to modify a global parameter of the test script during the test run.
- Request – a single HTTP request described in terms of Testing Master. Testing Master compiles the request string using parameters and sends it to the Web server.
- Test sequence – a linear sequence of requests. A part of a test script.
- Test script – a set of global test parameters, requests and test sequences. Equivalent of a single test script file.
- Test script run – a test script plus a set of global parameters altered by modifiers . Equivalent of a single line in the [runoptions] section of a test project.
- Test project – a set of information about testing automation: which test script files to run, in which order, and how the global parameters of a test script are modified during the script run. Equivalent to a single test project file.
- Test script file – a file with a TST extension,. equivalent of a single test script.
- Test project file - a file with a WPJ extension, equivalent of a single test project.
